California’s state and local government jobs are still growing but not fast enough to keep up with demand.
In a recent report by the nonpartisan Economic Policy Institute, California’s economy is still expanding at the slowest pace since the Great Recession.
That was in part because of a lack of good, reliable data about the jobs that are available, and the high cost of doing business in California.
The report found that jobs for about 60 percent of people age 25 to 54 in the state are not available, even though the state has more jobs than any other state in the country.
In contrast, jobs for people in the 35 to 54 age range are more plentiful.
The jobs for which the EPI found that people are available are mostly high-skilled jobs that pay well.
The report found those with high-paying jobs include health care professionals, teachers, engineers and doctors.
It also found jobs for lawyers, salespersons and teachers.
The EPI report found about a third of the jobs in the U.S. were lost in the Great Depression.
But the economy has bounced back since then and many of those jobs are now in high demand, especially for people who do the most creative work.
